That was great, very happy with Dell service. November '09 yes, just 3 weeks ago , system fully died - no power, Adapter blue power light goes off when plugged into laptop.

Dell chat customer response was infuriating, kept saying that it was not their problem anymore, even though it was a motherboard they just replaced, not more than 4 months ago and warranty was limited to Nvidia display in 2nd year. Even suggested that "overcharging" can contribute to system death honest - have logs from their chat! Finally, prevailed up customer service bot to have their supervisor call back.

He was still non committal, kept saying that I would have to pay for service at the depot. I agreed to have them at least pulling it back, hoping that it's one step in the correct direction - also pointed out my long purchase history with Dell, over the last 10 years. Dell depot service, was in a word, brilliant. Box came in 2 days later, reached Houston, 5 days later. Came back within 3 days, all fixed!

Machine lights up like it was new. No more customer service interactions required to resolve. So, for anyone with the same issue out there recently and are being rebuffed by Dell, keep plugging back at them politely!

I just Googled the web for about an hour and found that the M is a problem child. The first time it was less than one-month out of a one-year warranty and was clearly due to a manufacturers' defect.

They refused to support it. I had to purchase a new motherboard. The second time, I swapped out the daughter-board from the first broken motherboard. This time, I've given up. Frankly, if it's such a problem child, and we collect enough victims, perhaps we can insist that Dell make us whole for this. Didn't fix the problem. Just shut off on me after 8 hours of on and off use.

I'm seriously irritated. Called Dell tech support. He said a Senior Technician would call me back in the morning to determine what the problem is.

The Senior Tech called me, he had no clue what was wrong nor was he willing to find out. I could barely understand anything he said due to the accent.

Now what? After talking with Dell tech support once again, the Senior Technician told me I needed to send in to the Repair Depot for a second time. He says the heat sync needs replacing, another MLB and reformat hard drive. Just sent to Depot today. I will post again when I get it back and let you all know if this fixes it. I sincerely hope so! Still having issue with random shut off.
