It may not sound like a step up but I swear it is. The Omni 20 sees a fair amount of improvements that make it a more comfortable and overall better trainer. Saucony has cleaned up their entire stability line from the Guide 14 to the Hurricane 23 and the Omni 20 joins this group.
The thick liner provided by Saucony and the gusseted tongue replicate a soft slip-on sensation. Along with the plastic internal heel counter, your foot is locked in well without any worries of heel slippage. Saucony took a motion control shoe and made it look like I can drop a sub minute 10 miler in it.
We have a 34 mm stack height in the heel and 26 mm stack in the forefoot for an 8 mm offset. With the added medial side posting to sit under the arch, the Omni has a smooth heel-to-toe transition. This runs a lot firmer like the Endorphin Shift and Axon rather than the bouncier type of sensation found in the Triumph Under the midsole is an XT rubber outsole. The entire full rubber coverage did nothing but provide grip on the Florida roads and it performed fairly well on soft trail.
It catches the eye immediately with a sharp black and white checkerboard colorway, which looks significantly better than previous editions. The updated midsole may be the most dramatic change for the good. For such a heavy shoe A couple of my runs started as recovery days but quickly turned into striding around at a nice clip quicker than I intended.
Still soft, but a touch more firm. Also, the Omni 20 employs a traditional medial post instead of a TPU guidance frame. Both provide stellar stability, but the post of the Omni is more aggressive. Saucony included their Speedroll design in this shoe, meaning smoother transitions both uphill and downhill. My runs in this shoe just feel so smooth and so easy. I absolutely love the ride. At To be fair, the majority of my test miles were run in soupy conditions, like degrees with a dewpoint over Despite the smooth rolling action from the Speedroll design, my cadence dipped significantly due to the heft.
That would drop some of the bulk. Also, like the Hurricane, I had some hiccups locking down the midfoot. Omni 7 Moderate W - This is a great stability shoe; comfortable and cushioning. However, the tongue on my R shoe ends up on the side of my foot after a mile or so. Nuisance to keep pulling back out. I'd also recommend: Saucony Triumph 4 or 5, if you can find them. Anonymous, Zappos Customer , April 9, Love these shoes. I'm an over pronator and have problems with plantar fasciitis and was told to try these shoes.
They work. No more plantar fasciitis. Anonymous, Zappos Customer , March 27, Bunions - I used to wear only Sauconys for running and then I moved where no place carries them.
I measured my foot since I'd never ordered online before and ordered an 11 even though I generally wear a It's perfect - and that's remarkable because I usually have some problems with my bunions no matter what I put on. Anonymous, Zappos Customer , March 19, Saucony Progrid Omni 7 Moderate W. I love these shoes.
They are exactly what I ordered. I have narrow feet and they fit perfectly. Also, I have found that Saucony wears better than my New Balance and stay nice longer. Bonnie, Zappos Customer , March 12, Comfortable Shoe!
These shoes are very comfortable. They are the only shoe I can wear that relieves my arch pain. I have even gotten compliments on them. Rather unusual for an athletic shoe! Note that the tongue is a bit short when laced to the last eyelet. I laced them differently and appears to be fine now. Catgirl, Zappos Customer , March 9, Loved the new Omni 7. Had to size up half size. Great fit. Great shoe! Josie, Zappos Customer , March 1, I have been using some variant of the Saucony Progrid series for about 10 years.
So far this model is comfortable. I use orthotics for flat feet and Saucony has been a good fit for me. I run only moderate distances miles and generally not more than 3 times a week.
I feel they provide adequate cushioning for my level of joint impact. Anonymous, Zappos Customer , February 10, Super shoe - Best shoes I have put on and worn immediately for a long time. Anonymous, Zappos Customer , February 4, I wore the 6th generation, only complaint is my orthotics squeak more in these than any other shoes I've had! Other than that, they really are a good fit for my narrow foot especially the heel.
Anonymous, Zappos Customer , January 13, Love this shoe - I have had two pairs of the Omni 6, and this is just as comfortable, if not more. Very cushioned and comfortable. I use this for my road running shoe. Anonymous, Zappos Customer , January 8, L-o-v-e these shoes. I tried two types of Asics before these but they started giving me foot cramps. The tongue doesn't come up too high, the heel doesn't rub, the width is perfect and they look totally nifty.
Anonymous, Zappos Customer , October 23, Comfortable and well made. I would prefer that strip of material wasn't there, but I can live with it. The shoe is airy and breathable. Like it a lot. Have had Saucony's several years and wonder why I ever stopped buying them.
Anonymous, Zappos Customer , August 20, Great shoe for narrow feet and a slight overpronation. I usually run with orthotics, but don't need them with these shoes. They were out of the box comfortable. Anonymous, Zappos Customer , August 19, Relief for foot pain - I suffer from plantar fasciitis.
My podiatrist recommended Saucony shoes. I have put my orthotics in the shoes and have been wearing them for about 3 weeks now. My foot pain has lessened considerably. In addition, I have a long, narrow foot, and Saucony shoes fit me beautifully. Finding shoes that fit has never been easy. I would definitely recommend these shoes for anyone who needs a great fit with stability.
School T, Zappos Customer , August 17, Style 4 Rated 4 stars out of 5. A few years later when I was looking for a shoe that was a little "flashier", a different running store, yet again, recommended the Omni! I never had the Omni 6 bad me, I took a hiatus from running for a bit , but I find the Omni 7 is just as good, if not better than Omni 5.
The only thing I've been consistently disappointed about with regard to the Omni is that they have the most boring color combos, with usually white as the main color. I guess I'll have to put a lot more miles on my current Omni's so I can get the new color!
