What kind of paint does ibanez use

It's a bottom level model, Gio. I don't know much about painting wood, or guitars specifically. My first instinct was to sand all the paint off the guitar, and then spray-paint it my ideal color.

Something tells me this won't give me the semi professional look I would like. I don't want to spend lots of money on an expensive pneumatic air-brushing system. Does anyone have any tips on how to achieve a level of quality that is above spray-paint for not too much money?

You got a decent deal on it, play it for a bit to see if you like a the idea of a seven, and if you do then buy something half decent like an RGA or something. Bonus: once you've made up your mind, you get to smash it to pieces regardless of your decision. GIO ' s are horrible, horrible pieces of crap which shouldn't really be compared to real musical instruments.

So I reapplied it and it still did nothing. I then decided to sand it down, but all this white dust kept coming up. So I continued to sand and another layer popped up. I sanded down more and another layer.

I then think I finally hit the wood, but now I gotta go back to Home Depot to get a power sander. I haven't worked with any Ibanez's but the white dust is probably the lacquer coating. This would also account for the ineffectiveness of the paint remover, as the lacquer would prevent it from actually getting to the paint.

Don't quote me on that, as I do not know how Ibanez finishes their instruments. How long did you leave the paint stripper on the guitar before you scraped it off? I had really good results with leaving it on longer than the directions said Maybe you sohuld leave it on there longer??? Or maybe you're right Who knows. Either way I had the same problem with a guitar I was stripping I broke down and used a belt sander for the majority of it. Gotta be extremely controlled if you use one, though.
